To make the great Australian dream of owning your own home easier, the Government has introduced the First Home Owner Grant (FHOG). While the rules and benefits vary according to the state or territory you’re purchasing your home in, if you decide to build or buy new, you could be eligible for assistance to help you purchase your first home.

How much is the First Home Owner Grant?

If you're buying or purchasing a new home valued up to $750,000 the FHOG provides purchasers with a $10,000 grant or $20,000 if the home you are building or buying is in regional Victoria.

First home buyers are exempt from paying stamp duty on properties purchased for under $600,000 with a concession available for purchases above $600,000.
